It is a flowering plant of the Valerian family, it comes from high altitudes in the subalpine and alpine regions of the Himalayan mountains. Spikenard essential oil is derived from the roots of the plant and has been appreciated for centuries, traditionally used to appreciate people of high honor in Ayurvedic health practice in India.
