Fallopian tubes obstruction, adhesions

Fallopian tubes are two narrow, hollow, flexible tubes made of smooth muscle located in the abdominal cavity. Each fallopian tube is about 11 cm long and 0.5 cm wide and it connects the uterus with an ovary. The purpose of the fallopian tubes is to transport an egg from the ovaries to the uterus after ovulation. They are the place where the egg and sperm become one, conception happens, and a new life is created. They transport an already fertilized egg to the uterus.

This condition is one of the most common causes of female infertility and it is often discovered only because of several unsuccessful trials of conceiving. The obstruction of the fallopian tubes typically occurs after overcoming an infection of the fallopian tubes, ovaries, or uterus, due to adhesions or endometriosis.
